II São Paulo Meeting on Soil Sciences, Campinas - Brazil
March 2 - 4, 2016
The theme for the Denver meeting “Chemistry of Natural Resources” addresses topics important to life in the 21st Century, but is of particular relevance to the Rocky Mountain region and therefore most appropriate for the Denver meeting. The State of Colorado relies heavily on chemical processing, a topic which is frequently overlooked by traditional chemists. The theme permits opportunities to describe resource management issues: novel technologies for extraction and purification of minerals and other resources from the ground, upcoming challenges associated with water consumption, conservation and reuse, broader conversation about recycling of resources, and identification of alternative materials. The theme represents the full range of scientific issues from nanoscale to mesoscale and extends to largescale length and time domains.
International Phosphorus Workshop - Rostock, Germany
Sep 16 - 20, 2016
Phosphorus (P) is of vital importance for all life on Earth. It is a major component in animal feed and plant fertilizers but, when present in excess, also a disruptive element in freshwater and marine water bodies. Today, limitations in global mineral P resources have strengthened the demand for efficient alternative P sources and for P-recycling technologies. The International Phosphorus Workshops (IPWs) are well-known for presenting the latest results of research into agricultural and environmental P cycles as well as new methods of P analysis. Recently, environmental problems arising from P surplus on the one hand side and the implications for food production posed by P deficiencies on the other have made fair and sustainable P distribution a societal challenge. Therefore, at the IPW8, P governance will be an important focus. In addition, given the research interests of the hosting Leibniz-ScienceCampus, the role of P in catalytic reactions and technical applications will debut as a workshop topic.
FertBio - Brazilian Meeting on Soil Fertility and Biology - Goiânia, Brazil
Oct 16 - 20, 2016
SyncLight 2015 will bring graduate students and young postdoctoral researchers from Brazil and from many other countries together. The school is sponsored by the São Paulo State’s Research Foundation (FAPESP) and organized jointly by the LNLS and the American Physical Society (APS). The instructors are selected from currently active and leading researchers around the world.
São Paulo School of Advanced Science (ESPCA) is a program of FAPESP that offers short courses on advanced science and technology in order to contribute for the academic development of the participants and to consolidate the state of São Paulo as a polo of attraction for world-class scientific talents.
The main goal of the SyncLight 2015 is to show to young researchers (MSc, PhD and Post-doc fellows) what synchrotron light offers in the form of new tools for their research. We intend to show that there are numerous new possibilities that appeared in the last decade, particularly those exploring bright nanometer size x-ray beams and coherence.
